Autovox and ABT Sportsline showcase the ABT R8 LMS

24th April 2011 – Autovox, the exclusive South East Asia distributor of world renowned Volkswagen and Audi tuner ABT Sportsline, is pleased to showcase the sensational ABT R8 LMS race car along Orchard Road, on the stretch between ION Orchard and the Heeren. Asian favourite F1 driver, Alex Yoong will be driving the ABT R8 LMS hard and loud on the stretch of road specially cordoned off for this adrenaline-fuelled event. Expect doughnuts, smoke-outs and the smell of rubber burning on tarmac!

ABT Sportsline of Germany is the world’s largest tuner of Audi and Volkswagen automobiles. The ABT R8 LMS was built by ABT for the purpose of motorsport participation at the highest level. This championship race car has produced many interesting results which have enabled ABT to transfer race technology to improving the ABT street cars.

For example, the stock Audi R8 develops 525hp from its 5.2 litre FSI V10 engine. With ABT tuning, the street legal ABT R8 GTR now weighs 110 kilograms less, and develops 620hp from the same engine. It can reach 0 to100km/h in 3.2 seconds, to 200km/h in 9.9 seconds, and tops out at 325km/h.

To get close personal with the ABT R8 LMS, the car will on be display at the Red Bull VIP hospitality stand from 22nd to 23rd Friday and Saturday before the actual run on Sunday.

In addition to this first ever ABT street event, Red bull will also be featuring their F1 car driven by the formidable David Coultard.
